May 11–15, 2026 | Virtual | Free for NPA Members
Gateway Parking Services President Andrew J. Sachs, PTMP, Parksmart Advisor will lead a featured session at the National Parking Association’s Parking Pro Week 2026, a five-day virtual conference focused exclusively on EVs and parking.
The Session: Operationalizing EV Charging
Installing chargers is only the first step. The real challenge is operating EV charging in a way that strengthens the customer experience, supports efficient parking operations, and delivers long-term business value. Andrew’s session takes a practical, operator-focused look at the day-to-day realities of running EV charging in commercial parking environments — covering how to monetize charging, deliver effective customer service, and manage operational and business risk.
Topics will include:
- How EV charging integrates with existing parking systems — PARCS, LPR, reservations, mobile payments, and access control
- Best practices for managing EV spaces, ongoing maintenance, and vendor oversight
- The types of agreements used to operate charging programs
- Turnover management — dwell times, idle fees, and discouraging “charging squatters”
- Customer service essentials: signage, communications, help desk support, and dispute resolution
The session is designed for parking owners, operators, and managers looking for practical strategies to run EV charging more efficiently, reliably, and profitably.
Also: Future Outlook & Policy Panel
Andrew will also join a panel discussion on Future Outlook & Policy Considerations alongside Jerry Marcus (The Parking Advisory Group), Chris White (Kittelson & Associates), and Mark Santos, PE, PTMP (Walker Consultants), exploring where EV policy and the parking industry are headed next.
